Our Story


Yoshi Monster is a design-led brand built around feeling, texture, and personality.

It is run by a husband-and-wife team: Colette and Bilal.

Colette is the creative force behind Yoshi Monster—the design world, the characters, the materials, and the aesthetic. Her ideas often start as loose sketches, half-formed thoughts, or fully imagined creatures living somewhere in her head. Bilal is the engine that brings those ideas into reality. He handles the business, structure, and logistics that turn doodles into wearable pieces, anchoring the brand with a focused, practical hand. The balance between imagination and execution is what allows Yoshi Monster to exist at all.

Much of the brand’s character-driven work is also deeply personal. Bilal is a constant source of inspiration when Colette is developing monsters—their expressions, moods, and quiet commentary are often drawn from everyday observations and shared moments.

Yoshi Monster began as a hands-on experiment, shaped by family and problem-solving as much as creativity. Colette’s mother sewed the very first monster pieces alongside her, helping bring the earliest ideas to life. The cutting technique that defines the faux fur monsters came from her father, who had an unexpected realization while using a small handheld hot wire cutter he normally used to trim fishing line. That moment—simple, practical, and inventive—changed the entire production process.

Today, Yoshi Monster exists as a multifaceted label. It includes limited-run, hand-constructed monster sweaters made slowly and intentionally, as well as small-batch clothing collections focused on fabric, comfort, and ethical production. Each collection lives within its own world, but all are connected by a shared design language and point of view.

Yoshi Monster isn’t about trends or seasons. It’s about making pieces that feel personal—things that carry a sense of humor, intention, and humanity.
